Algo-doomed

The theory goes that a super intelligent machine will emerge that knows everyone’s needs and wants before they do, becoming a superhuman overlord and wreak havoc... Some have even said that that future has already begun, albeit in a less sophisticated manner, with algorithms that process big data to serve you targeted ads, Facebook propaganda, and better medical diagnoses (not everything is bad). Congruent with the theory, as more sophisticated machine learning systems are deployed, the more these algorithms will control our lives. I’m here to report the future may even be bleeker, and more ironic. Bleek because it turns out our lives are indeed being controlled, but by inferior-intelligence algorithms - the irony.
